Sad loss but we have the whole season ahead of us!

Okay, you have to admit that it was a pretty good game last weekend despite the loss. So, if you still need a little pick-me-up I hope that you'll join us this Saturday at 8pm for the Tech vs Houston game televised on ESPN2.

We have found a home! That's right folks! It was unanimous that Total Sports Naperville be designated as our alumni game watching home. As a house warming gift a Tech flag has been purchased and will be hung in "our spot". Yea!!

How Big Is Your Red Raider Heart?

Hey, Red Raiders! Please read on and hear about what one of our fellow Red Raiders is doing to support Breast Cancer Research:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello All!
My name is Elizabeth Breese and I graduated from Tech in December 1999. This coming June, I will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I will be walking at least 26.2 miles and as many as 39.3 miles over the course of two days. Part of my commitment to walk is also raising money to support Breast Cancer research, prevention initiatives, and to help the medically underserved.
I am hoping to raise at least $2,000 for this important cause. All donations are tax deductible and can be made on line at http://www.avonwalk.org/goto/Elizabeth_Breese or you can send a check directly to me. If you prefer to write a check, please make it payable to “Avon Walk for Breast Cancer” and mail it to:
Elizabeth Breese
500 57th Street
Downers Grove, Il 60516
Online donors will receive an e-mail from the Avon Foundation that serves as a tax receipt. If you choose to write a check, the canceled check is your receipt.
Thank you all for supporting my commitment! I appreciate the time you’ve taken to read this and any help you can give to help reach my $2,000 goal.
Guns Up!
Elizabeth
Need Some Warm Thoughts?
So, how tired of the snow are you? Are you wondering why you even left Texas in the first place? Well, at this moment I am! So, I thought I'd send out a little hope on such a blah day.
  1. The Schamburg Flyers baseball park has contacted me twice asking if we would all like to join them on June 11th at 7:05pm for their College Night. They are inviting alums from many different universities in and out of state. However, the woman who I have been speaking with has said that if June 11th doesn't work out for us they could arrange another night for Tech alums. We get special rates on admission if we have 25 or more guests (not necessarly alums). What I need to know is a.) are you interested in going to a game b.) Does June 11th (a Thursday) work for you or would you rather go on a Friday or Saturday (I pick Friday!)
  2. Are you a runner? If you like to run for fun or even for competition we have a race for you! We headed to Chicago on Saturday, June 13th to run in the Skirt Chaser 5k benefiting the MARKLUND foundation that serves infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. Those who require the most medical attention and medical monitoring have access to our exceptional care unit. Run a little (35 minutes if you run like me) and then head on over to what sounds like an amazing block party with all the runners. To learn more about this race visit http://www.skirtchaser5k.com/ Let me know if you intend on running in this. Maybe we can all ride down together!
  3. Other races under consideration...
July 4th Community Bank of Elmhurst 4 miles on the 4th which benefits the
Elmhurst Children's Assistance Foundation (ECAF) www.ecaf4kids.org
August 16th Joggin for the Noggin which benefits the Tug McGraw Foundation and the Brain Tumor Clinic at Duke University. http://www.jogginforthenoggin.com
September 27th One Small Voice 5K Run and Family Fun Walk which raises funds and awareness for pediatric research being conducted on Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and Hydrocephalus. The One Small Voice Foundation is a 501c3 organization and donates funds raised to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Children’s Memorial Hospital Chicago.
As soon as I get word on the Big XII diner cruise I'll be sending that out as well. If you have any ideas for outings and get togethers let me know!
Our Hearts Ache...
... but we are still so proud of our Red Raiders. It was a tough loss to stomach and it was an even harder fall in the rankings this week. Nevertheless, we persevere and look forward to the last game of the season against Baylor. Read this story to soften the blow...
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?page=roadtobcs/0806
Some of us will be with our families this coming weekend for the Thanksgiving holiday, however, a game watching gathering is still possible. I just need to know if anyone is interested in watching so that I can give BWW proper notice. Please let me know no later than Wednesday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm.
Happy Holidays!
