Our Hearts Ache...

... but we are still so proud of our Red Raiders. It was a tough loss to stomach and it was an even harder fall in the rankings this week. Nevertheless, we persevere and look forward to the last game of the season against Baylor. Read this story to soften the blow...

Some of us will be with our families this coming weekend for the Thanksgiving holiday, however, a game watching gathering is still possible. I just need to know if anyone is interested in watching so that I can give BWW proper notice. Please let me know no later than Wednesday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm.

Happy Holidays!

Did anyone else see the strange signs the Oklahoma Cowboys were holding up during this past weekends blowout? Well, here is a sign that was left behind in Lubbock by the Okies.

Can You Say... AMAZING!!!

Well, they did it again. Our Red Raiders are simply amazing. We gathered at Buffalo Wild Wings this time and had a blast watching our Raiders on several screens with great sound thanks to the bars "Sound Dogs". Next week is a by week so lets hope Crabtree can rest up his left foot for the game against Oklahoma on the 22nd. The AP and USA Today Polls still have us ranked at #2 so we anxiously await the BCS Poll's rankings. Regardless, we couldn't be happier for our team.

When more info comes my way about the time and station coverage for the Tech vs. OU game I'll post it right here. Stay tuned!

But, for those of you who attended the game watching at BWW... would you prefer to stay there or return to the Foundry?

Alumni Holiday Dinner

If you have not given your RSVP its not too late! Please leave a comment, respond to the evite or the email and let us know you'll be joining us. Additionally, please let us know if you will be bringing others with you so we have enough food for everyone.

If you have not received an invitation to the dinner but would like to attend we'd love to have you! The cost is $6 per person and that will get you dinner and an entry into the raffle for a 2008 Tech Tech Holiday Ornament.

We will also have a "meeting" to talk about our chapter and if there are specific things members would like to do with the chapter (volunteer work, more game watchings, raise money for a scholarship, travel, sport teams, guest speakers, play dates, dinners, etc.)

I sure hope to see you there!

Oh, how we miss Tech...

Remember the good ol' days where we'd line up hours and hours before the football games to ensure we'd get a seat in the student section? Well, the tradition continues in what is now called Raiderville! With ESPN coming to Lubbock to host this Saturday's match-up the game hype is at its highest. Students began camping out in the engineering key last night to make sure they aren't left out come Saturday night. Read more about this story and see pictures of Raiderville here:

Tech vs Texas Game Time Announcement

The following statement was released today on www.texastech.cstv.com:

"The Big 12 Conference announced Monday that ABC or ESPN will air No. 6 Texas Tech's Big 12 Conference game against No. 1 Texas for a 7 p.m. CT broadcast Nov. 1 from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. The game will be the sixth of the season on television for the Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders and Longhorns are both 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in Big 12 Conference play entering this weekend's games. Texas Tech faces No. 18 Kansas in Lawrence in a game that will be aired nationally on ESPN at 11 a.m. Saturday. Texas hosts No. 8 Oklahoma State in Austin.

Texas leads 42-14 in a series that has continued annually since the 1960 season. Tech last knocked off Texas, 42-38, when the Longhorns were ranked third in 2002. The two teams were involved in an offensive shootout last year in Austin as Texas prevailed 59-43. The teams combined for 1,027 total yards, including 734 through the air.

A decision on the network will be determined at the conclusion of this weekend's games. "

Watch out Kansas!

Well, we may have moved down a spot in the rankings which now put us at No.8 but we're still on a winning streak and fighting hard. Let's keep the Raider Power going strong by meeting up at The Foundry this Saturday, October 25 at 11am.

Heads Up! Chris and Natalie Johnson have invited us over to their home for the UT game and chili dinner. Their address and contact number will be emailed to you. Because Nat and Chris are in the process of moving, furniture is limited. So, please bring your own folding chair or something to sit on!

An evite will be going out today with details regarding the November 15th holiday dinner. There is not a game that Saturday. We will be having a raffle for the new 2008 Texas Tech Christmas ornament!

October 13th Updates

Well, if you're heart wasn't pounding after the last game with Nebraska I have to wonder if you're a Red Raider after all! What a clincher! By the skin of their teeth, the Red Raiders were able to pull a win over the Huskers 37-31 in overtime. Let's hope this weeks game against the Aggies goes much smoother. The AP poll has us ranked at No. 7 and the Aggies stand at... wait, they're not ranked. Regardless, the Raiders better tighten up the bootstraps and not rest on their laurels with this game. After the Aggies we head into a tough 4 week string of games with Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Meet us up at the Foundry this Saturday to watch the Aggies! Let me know if you're coming.

The holidays are here and we would like to invite you to attend a holiday gathering of Red Raiders at the home of alumni Elizabeth Breese and her husband, David. This will happen on November 15Th beginning at 5pm. The Breeses and Wieses (how cute is that!) would love it if you could RSVP by November 1st so we can determine the best method of feeding the masses. We will also be doing a name drawing for the new 2008 Texas Tech Christmas ornament! More info to come soon.

Calling All Red Raiders!

So, you're a lonesome Red Raider looking for fellow alums? You've come to the right place! We are the Red Raider Chapter of the Chicago Western Suburbs and we want you to join us for game watching parties and socials.

My name is Stephanie and I am the Chapter President. As it stands, no other officers have been elected... but I'll keep my eye out for some outstanding Red Raiders to help me out. There is also a Tech Chapter in Chicago proper headed up by Brad Davis.

I have been in contact with 10 of the other 11 Big XII Chapter presidents in our area (I'm still waiting on the Baylor Bears to speak up) but they have all been open to joining us at The Foundry in Aurora when we play their teams. Additionally, as a Big XII group we can opt to participate in the Big XII Annual dinner Boat Cruise and other socials.

So, its a start... but we sure are off to a good one!
